The Park Bench Project (2017-2018)

—with Margot Spindelman & Michael Davis

As an open collective “the PARK BENCH project” we offer our experience as artists.

We are a group of New York artists concerned with divisiveness, intolerance, bigotry and economic injustice. In our open collective “the PARK BENCH project” we offer our experience as artists. We try to make connections, one person at a time. After all, this is our reason for being.

We go to public places in New York City on weekends, places where we can meet people outside our circle. Battery Park, the Oculus and other public sites. We simply stand there with signs, each with a different question or invitation to talk. “Free talk here.” “What do we have in common?” We really don’t know what will happen. People who approach us are curious, as we are. We get to talk. There is no telling how a conversation will go. We get to know each other.

Check out the Park Bench Facebook page to read about all the conversations we have had with strangers from anywhere.
